Nicole, Mother of 1

Caitlin was absolutely amazing! She was able to help support my husband and I when our baby girl unexpectedly arrived 6 weeks early. She worked in partnership with the hospital staff and helped guide me through every contraction l. 10/10 recommend her to anyone looking for support through the journey of pregnancy and labor/delivery.

My biggest fear was having medical professionals take the reins on my delivery, offering drugs I did not need and a c section that would scar my body forever and slow my overall recovery. Caitlin actively listened and her reassurance was key leading up to my due date. She would say "your body knows what to do" and to "try homeopathic ways to stimulate birth like acupuncture and chiropractic care". During labor, she was on the phone with us for a few hours guiding me on how to breathe through contractions and when to go to the hospital. At the hospital, she advocated for me when the doctors were with us. Her reassurance, confidence, and support throughout helped me work through the fear because I knew I was with someone knowledgeable and considerate of my needs.

I have told friends that if you want a customized experience with someone who's job is just helping women give birth, then you need to talk to a Doula. I would highly recommend Caitlin because my birth would have gone as I wanted without her.

Caitlin was just who we needed. Very knowledgable but not overly medical. She was kind and funny with a very large and warm heart. At all of our meetings, she was prepared with insightful answers and a smile. During delivery, she was attentive, helpful, and I could not have done it without her.

This was my first birth, and from the beginning of my pregnancy I knew I wanted to have a doula. I am autistic/neurodivergent, so being close and trusting with new people can be very hard for me. I felt immediately safe and comfortable with Caitlin right from the start. She is direct, knowledgeable, and full of positive energy. Before being pregnant I had a lot of fears about pregnancy and birth. Caitlin helped me work through those fears, with a combination of facts/information, compassion, and affirmation. My primary concern was having a doula for the birth, but Caitlin was also incredibly supportive through my whole third trimester. In the few weeks before my birth, my anxiety and emotions spiked and she helped me to stay focused on my goals, stay positive, keep my anxiety low. My birth was quite long, and having her there to support me and my husband made a huge difference for me. Feeling safe and supported for my whole birth was a big reason why I felt so happy and empowered about my birth experience despite how “difficult” it was. I feel so much gratitude for having her there for what was probably the most intense event I will ever experience.

Being pregnant with baby #2 I was exciting everything was going right except for the fact that I knew I was going to have to give birth in the hospital which traumatized me the 1st time around.  I started doing research I came across doulas but none of them were in my price range. After seeing a panicked Facebook post on a local moms ground Caitlin reached out to me and as soon as we spoke I instantly felt a connection. I felt she understood and heard me. The first time she came to my house we talked about my 1st birth and my birth plan. I wanted it to be different this time. Fast forward to around my due date I had false labor at that same hospital and Caitlin was so nice and amazing she came with me and stayed there until I was released. That’s when I knew I chose the right person to help me, a week later I was induced, I was scared and in pain but both my partner and Caitlin were there and I felt in control this time, in spite of the fact that I asked to get an epidural. I struggled with my decision and she said something like “there’s a difference between pain and suffering and  ultimately it’s up to you.”  That hit me and I didn’t feel judged when I got it. Baby boy was born healthy I couldn’t thank Caitlin more for her love and support.

During my second pregnancy, I thought “I’d love to have a doula since I did experience a miscarriage and would love to have that emotional support from somebody experienced, but can I afford it?” I remembered being induced with my pregnancy and feeling as if I really did not understand the reason why. I reached out to Caitlin and she was providing her services at a sliding scale, which worked perfectly with our budget.

I’m not going to lie, I was a little scared to meet her since it was COVID and things were just a little weird. We jumped on a Zoom call and I feel like we immediately hit it off. I’m Hispanic and Caitlin is white, so I thought the culture difference would be weird. But believe it or not, I felt really comfortable and I felt comfortable asking the “stupid” questions.

After our Zoom meeting where we discussed the process of working with a doula, what is expected of her during pregnancy and leading up to birth, it felt like a friend who you could text and ask questions. Eventually ,Caitlin came over to my house which was nice since she was able to meet dad and big sister. During this visit we got to know each other and we went through my ideal birth, we created a birth plan, and we built a great rapport. Eventually as my due date got closer we spoke about various movements we can do on the day I’m in labor. I went into labor at 38 weeks 5 days and as soon as I started feeling pain, I contacted Caitlin who walked me through the process. But things moved quickly and I ended up texting her “She’s here!”. My daughter is now 3 months and Caitlin still shoots me a text to see how I’m doing and if she can be of any help. If you’re doubting or double thinking if a doula is for you, Caitlin is the girl for you!

Melissa, Cancer Survivor.

I was diagnosed with breast cancer on March 6th, 2018; my partner was deployed to Kuwait with the Army 11 days later. My treatment was physically and emotionally draining in ways I couldn't have coped with by myself, and thankfully I didn't have to. Caitlin was a huge emotional support for me during this time, and accompanied me to my extremely stressful appointment to discuss fertility options before I underwent chemotherapy. She also helped coordinate a dog walking calendar for my spirited Boston terrier who I couldn't completely care for while at treatments or when I was recovering from surgeries. During one of the most difficult times in my life, Caitlin helped put my mind at ease.

A doula is your advocate as you navigate the birthing process, and is the person you'll go to to seek comfort as well as advice. Caitlin did that for me, and she will, no doubt, do that for you.
